Looking for replacement engine, clapped one was Kubota 2 cylinder, would like to replace with something around 25hp but need to fit footprint of the one removed, I can cope with a rebuild if basicaly sound. Any ideas/engines.

1. "Clapped".
It takes a helluva lot of use to wear out a Kubota engine; they're industrial type design and intended to last.
When you've looked at the cost of a replacement, you may want to revisit refurbishing what you've got. The base engine is not hugely expensive, but the additions - cooling, gearbox, and so on add quite a bit and of course may be salvageable.

2. footprint.
You are asking quite a lot a 10 or 14hp 2 cylinder is much smaller that a 3cylinder 20 hp.

Looking at the beta site (click here), the 20 horse has 317mm between mounting centres and is 583mm overall. The 10 or 14hp is 245mm and 583 respectively.

However, you didn't ask for that sort of advice. In any event Beta are generally prepared to modify mountings to suit, and will advise you sensibly if they think what's being asked is not practical.
