Project has slowed a bit due to weather, winter & work. I've been trying to buy a planer/thicknesser, just missed another one on e-bay tonight,( it's not doing my nerves any good) anyone out there know of one that's looking for a good home. (East Anglia or S.E.)

I've been using a DeWalt DW733 since 2001. I think you should maybe check this tool out.

Mine has done over 100 sq Metres of oak floor, about double that in softwood floor, an oak stair and loads of boatie stuff as well as I don't know how many jobs in softer woods.

It has needed one new on/off switch (warranty replacement) and a new thermal cutout last year. Other than that all I've had to do is make sure the blades are kept REALLY sharp, especially with oak. It'll thickness up to 6-inch thick by 12-nch wide stock too (though I'm not sure I'll ever want to.) Plugs into any 220v/240v socket with a standard single-phase three-pin plug. I got mine through MachineMart, any DeWalt dealer can get them.

Granted it takes a moment to get used to how to use it and you need to bolt it to a really solid bench, but for under £400 new, I could not wish for better.

I have nothing to do with DeWalt BTW. Just a very happy customer.
