Has anyone got any good recomendations for some where to eat in Marlow. The parents are working at the craft show at Stonor Park this weekend and have said that they will meet us on sunday night on their way home at our mooring at Medmenham or temple and treat us to a meal in Marlow.

If anyone has any good places they have been to, then please pass any info on.

There are plenty but it will be a Saturday night on a bank holiday, you can go chain or risk some unknowns, then of course the dog and badger is only a five min cab ride away!

My advice (and it is mine) is to see what mildly full at 8 and go for it!

Italian...diagonally oppposite the entrance to the riverside park at the beginning of the High Street. You will need to book.

There is a Zizzis a little further up on the left.

Good lord are they still going? It must be over a decade ago since I ate there. The waiters used to walk around singing Italian songs, damn the food the athmosphere was superb.

Don Lorenzo seconded. Very good traditional Italian.

We ate there on the way back from Byron's. Superb meal. I can even remember what I had, which is unusual for me.

And they had an excellent Gavi di Gavi /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I'm not too late.......

Two Brewers, st peter st. This is my favourite in Marlow.

Walk through the churchyard along the path and the pub is opposite - excellent food and service, really not pub food, proper restaurant.

There is a mooring at the end of st peter st, next to the slipway. This is the site of the old bridge across the Thames (sorry thread drift)

But you did say they were paying? In which case the conservatory in the Compleat Angler (not the main restaurant, too pretentious).

Other favourites of mine: Indian, top quality in the Tiger Cub in station Rd. Thai in the Prince of Wales opposite the Tiger cub, cheapest of the recommendations here bar Zizzi's. Chinese, Jasmine Peking at the top of the high st on the corner. Marlow Bar and Grill is opposite Don Larenzo and is good modern food. Zizzi's is OK for Pizza, but keep that for when you're paying!

I can walk to all of these from home and these are the ones I return to out of the choice of 20+ in Marlow.

The Gavi di Gavi is good. They bring it out when they see us. Don't even wait for us to order it now....

thanks for all the replies. We ended up staying 2 nights in Henley so went out for a meal there.
Went for a meal at the tapas restaurant - la Bodega, and had to say that it was very good (but then I wasn't paying!). Great food and very good service
