Fairly extreme but perfectly understandable means of avoiding listening to U2.
Apparently as he watched Every Breaking Wave he decided Sometimes You can't Make It On Your Own so he called the coastguard and said it's anything but A Beautiful Day - I'm trying to get there With or Without You but if you could come out and give me a tow I Will Follow.

Seems like a lot of detail missing from that story! Why did the lifeboat crew grow concerned throughout the day? Was there poor weather after the lack of wind? How did so many sails fail? Maddening to get such a thin version of events!!

How do you lose most of your sails on such a small vessel after spending 10 days with no wind? Looked like more than enough sails to get to Wales in the picture. Is the final paragraph the true story, From the article:
"He is very fit and able but was clearly exhausted after 52 days alone at sea. We were glad to help him over the final hurdle and bring him safely to Kinsale."

No vaccination certificate, no recent Covid test.... No right of entry to Ireland.
A contrived 'medical emergency' or 'justifiable fears for the safety of life', possibly.
