Anybody know the European name of this product.

A UK yachtsman in Greece told me that it would work in an emergency for sealing a leaky stern gland hose.

Sold in the UK as a silicon repair tape but he didn't know the name. Google came up with this.

Isn't it just regular self-amalgamating tape? Which in French is auto bandes fusionnant In Greek it is αυτο ταινία συγχώνευση.In German it is Selbst verschmelzen Band

OK OK I am not a master of languages just messing about with Google translate. I suggest your friend does the same

Nope, sorry, Shug. Rescue Tape's not normal Self Amalgamating Tape by any means. It's apparently silicone-based, and it's as tough as... well... you know! It takes a huge amount of heat, and is also very good in high-pressure applications, so you can fix fuel and exhaust-lines, as well as air-lines.
All I know is that it's bloody expensive compared to normal tape, but it works a treat!

Still cuts easily and is limited with air pressures. We considered it's use at work for a client for temporary repairs. It failed tests but I still have a part roll on board as being better than nothing.

If you look in the bottom right-hand corner of the web page you linked to, you'll see the words "International Suppliers". If you click on those words, you'll find a page which lists European countries with distributors in - each country's page has distributor websites listed.

It's known in the UK as - Rescue Tape!

Definitely not self amalgamating tape and amazing stuff. I'm not totally independent as I know the makers in the US after meeting them at a boat show a few years ago. Bought some and always keep on board. Last year I used it to repair a split cooling hose carrying hot water. Lasted the 10 days until I could replace the hose without a drip.

try 'Toolstation' and look for 'LIFA' tape.
chuffing expensive but very good... i think its the one you wanted

Thanks all. did some more googling and found that Maplins sell silicon based self amalgamating tape, as well as the rubber (pvc) based self amalgamating tape . I will order some via mail.

Good to see that the replies are in favour with the silicon based tape.
