As it is on my regular "run", I went to see her yesterday:
Containership

Its is a mixed Ro-Ro and container vessel. Apparently, the computer-guided ballasting stabilisation system was faulty, and she capsized slowly. no one was hurt.
Quite a sight.

Oooops! comes to mind! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

What I can't figure out in the written report is the sentence, "The ship was ready to leave the port but for some reason, yet unknown, some containers ended up in the water." /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I would have thought that they could figure out that if the ship capsizes, they would end up with some containers in the water? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Indeed, that text wasn't clearly written by the sharpest mind...
I've also seen footage of the capsize itself, taken on mobile phones, with the containers ripping loose from their moorings, tumbling in the water, and on the quayside.
The barge skippers had a field day, as one of the containers had ripped open, with hundreds of bottles of cooking oil bobbing in the basin. There will be a hell of a "frites" fest this weekend... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
