Morning,
I have lost a set of keys to my boat. The remaining set seem to have no numbers on the keys and only the makers name - Valeo.

I'm thinking I lost the main set.

Anyone know how to get a second set without the key numbers. Not sure Mr Minit would hold VP blanks.

Boat is a Fairline if that makes any difference at all

Thanks

I got a set cut in 2004; Volvo dealer charged a fortune for the blanks (not even the special kind with foam pads) and then the local key cutter told me that they were just a standard type key he could have sold me for 25% of what the dealer charged so I took him up on the offer and got 2 sets.

Many years ago one of volvo boat keys broke, went to the volvo agent, they photocopied t'other key and sent to volvo.- Cost an arm and leg to get new key!

Go to a sarf london yuf. Ask him.
In less than a minute. He will rearrange all boat locking mechanisms to use the traditional universal key (the screwdriver) all for the price of a spliff. a fair price don't you think.

We had ours done at Keys Galore in Primrose Hill NW1 (020 7586 9741). They have a machine/computer which can read the keys and tell the serial number. £12.50 each in 2004. We also inherited some keys with tags from Marine Secol in Brighton 0273 686368.

My thoughts exactly. And the last time I saw them on ebay they were only £20. That was for EDC/EVC plug and play key sockets with keys. I dunno if OP's ones are EDC/EVC or earlier types

A side issue - I filled a glass with water (tap rather than sea though) and put my VP key with floaty foam in. It sank to the bottom of the glass. (that was just the key, no key ring or house brick attached).

Therefore, a) have I got a one-off duff bit of foam, or b) is the bit of foam pointless.

Irrelevant for me now as both keys attached to reasonable float.
