Hi,
I'm replacing my boat's old International Cruiser Uno antifoul with Seajet. I noticed on International's website it says that if replacing with a different product all old antifoul must be completely removed. Usually during overhaul I sand away most of the old antifoul and replace it. But will I need to completely remove International's paint or is this just a marketing strategy so I'll buy their paint thinners?

Thanks

You dont say which Seajet antifouling you are intending to use so difficult to advise
but
see the Seajet Antifouling compatibility chart

Seajet primer

Seajet produce a primer which can be applied over previous a/fouls of a non-Seajet variety; that might do the trick.

Good decision by the way; I've used Seajet Emporer for six years now and it performs very well indeed.

Provided the existing paint coat is sound and adhering well I would expect that you will have no problem with going directly over with new.
Good idea to speak to Seajet though, they are very helpful.
I have used Shogun for some years with good results, but last year used Emperor, thinking more expensive, must be better. Results were very poor.
When I mentioned this to a Seajet rep at Southampton Boat show he said that Emperor would not be recommended for muddy East Coast, stick with Shogun.
