I have noticed a very small split on my Heat Exchanger End Cap (front of engine side) on a Volvo 2030D

I seem to recall that I need to be very careful when replacing to ensure the correct fitting so that the salt water and fresh water do not mix. Can the Heat Exchanger Element move?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The heat exchanger can be removed, so yes it does move. The water sealing is done by the hose clips on the rubber boots. You can do as I did and get new boots from parts4engines. I would suggest getting the full kit with new hose clips. It is also a good opportunity to remove and clean the heat exchanger element anyway (after at least partially draining the fresh water cooling system).
