Go for it! You may need to rebuild/replace the unit it sits on but that should be quite easy. Choose the sink you like, design the unit to fit. Or...have an inset sink, put a worktop over the unit and cut the right sized hole for the sink.

Only problem will be that, by improving the looks of the sink and area, it will highlight any deficiencies in adjoining areas.

Plenty of boat orientated sinks here penguineng.com/sinks/single-sinks-basins/?page=1 but as suggested a trip to B&Q might find you something , although domestic sinks are generally bigger than the space available in boats. You will have to rebuild the top and that is a lot of work if you want to keep that top opening cool box. so probably clean up the existing if you have other more pressing things to spend time and money on.

To me it looks like a GRP thing with gelcoat and you can use rubbing compound to make it look better - not fun work, though. Start with oxalic acid/teak cleaner/waterline cleaner.
Getting a new one is more fun, and should not be difficult.

My current and past boats have had small but deep ss sinks set in to worktop surfaces in galley and heads so they must be available somewhere.

Cut around the red lines and fill with a piece of board (stainless ?) then insert new stainless sink. This gives you a lip from the existing GRP to stop splashes etc and leaves the small area at the back for cups etc.

However, I would give it a good clean first to see how it comes up like, might be okay.

Try a caravan or motor home retail outlet - they have small sinks. Most DIY retail outlets have an enormous option for sinks and drainers try there. We had a fibreglass/gel coat sink that chipped too easily - it was actually based on a domestic sink (uning a domestic sink as the mould) we simply chopped it out and reloaded with a stainless 1 and 1/2 sink and single drainer.

I was a simple task.

If you want to try refurbishing the existing sink - I’ remove is and do the refurbishment off the yacht. You will have more room and less mess in the yacht. I’d actually take it home and attack it in the garden.

We have this on our longbow

How practical would it be to replace the sink entirely, or how feasible to refurbish it?
The space behind is a coolbox type idea i think, just used for storage.
I'd start by trying to clean the existing sink.
I think the difficulty with replacing it will be accommodating the tap and pump
The bin behind it is useful for open cartons of milk etc but it drains into the bilge so you dont want to spill anything in there. It should have a hinged cover.
