one of my rubber engine mounts has been fouled by a diesel leak and is crumbling. Is it possible to just replace the one mount or do all four need doing and what is the procedure for doing this. the engine is a bukh 20. Thanks.

I don't know the bukh 20 or indeed your specific installation but I suspect that you won't be able to replace just one engine mount without undoing all four, undoing the coupling and lifting the engine...... then of course you have to put it all back again and re-align the engine. Engine mounts don't cost the earth, particularly if you can find suitable ones at a boat jumble and I would suggest that it would be worthwhile replacing all the mounts while you are at it to avoid having to do it all again at some time in the future.

you can get away with replacing a pair. front or rear,

you should be able to just loosen them from the bearers, jack the engine up enough to get them out and slip the new ones in, then tighten the new ones up again.

and engine manufacturers mounts DO cost a fortune! try R&D marine in Baldock i think it is

I replaced one mount on my Yanmar 1GM10 because of diesel contamination from a leaking fine filter. It was not a good idea as within nine months I had to have the other three changed. In Yanmars defence they were the original 13 year old mounts.
