When I bought the boat it came with a replacement log display - but this is a different size from the existing one. Old display 5X5 inches, new one 5X4.5 inches, more or less !
Is there anyway suggested way to make the new one fit in the old space on the cockpit bulkhead ? If not, and I cut a new hole for the new one, any suggestions for covering the old hole ?
I've never had to do any of this 'practical' stuff before, just pulled on ropes for people !

If you have say 1/2" space all round your existing display then you could use a small piece of perspex or timber to mount the new display in and then fix the panel to the bulkhead covering the original hole and allowing easy access for the cables.
Don't forget to seal between the panel and the bulkhead.

The DIY bit is not difficult if you take your time and aren't afraid to ask.

Its not a difficult job to glue in a strip of plywood, coat it with fiberglass then coat that with gelcoat filler. Then cut out to the new size if nessary. Tubes of fiberglass and gelcoat filler can be bought at Car accessories shops or chandlers.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had another look today, and I'll put a piece of ply behind, glass it in, fillmfromthe front, then it only need 5 holes ( 4 for fixing, 1 for cables) drilled to fit the new display.
