Anyone ever heard of the ARCO range of winches?

We have several fitted as halliard/reeefing winches, but would like to replace the main and mizzen halliard winches (ARCO 16 & ARCO 8 models) with Lewmar ST or similar ST winches. The old ARCOs seem to be quality built and were probably fitted 20 years ago.

Any advice welcomed.

Many thanks,

Tam

Australian manufacturer with an exceptional lifetime warranty on most products and agents in UK. Follow the links on the site. You may well find that they can replace any parts cheaply or under the warranty even after 20 years saving you a lot of money. Worth looking at the costs of their new ones if you have to replace.

I have them on my boat and after 14 years of very heavy use they are going great (will probably break tomorrow now!)

Just bought two ARCO USA 30 ST from ebay, thought there was something wrong when I had greased and fitted them, so I emailed ARCO AUS for assistance. I had a response the next day despite it being the Easter weekend - their advice was correct, and I am very happy with the winches.
