Replacing an Avon\'s valves

I have inherited an old avon inflatable - wooden transom style. Unfortunately it seems to be leaking slowly through the valves, which are old style.

I would like to swop them for the newer style, and so cure the leaking. Is this something that can be done at home, or should I search out someone who can do it professionally? I am in the Fareham area, so if I do need to find someone, any recommendations?

Valves are out of date, you use transistors now.

I stopped the valves on the old compass dinghy I bought by spraying cooking oil in them. Something to do with keeping the rubber flap flexible and making a better seal or so I'm told...

IIRC the valves on an avon need to be done professionally. I have seen avons and bombards for sale somewhere near Alladins Cave at Bursledon, so suspect they may be able to direct you to the correct place.

I assisted when the valves on mine were changed. It takes about 5 mins.

I have the same or similar Avon.
A hunt around the chandlers should find valves already fixed to round patches which can be glued on using the same method as an ordinary patch, which makes it a DIY job.
Buying the valves without the patch means removing the large plastic hex nut which needs a very expensive tool, or making your own spanner.
