Has anyone had to replace any windows of late? I need to do the one that goes right across the transome on my Gib'Sea and I'd like to buy one all ready cut and drilled - Any suggestions as to supplier? The boat's in Portsmouth. I live in SW London and work near Reading.

Sounds like you should contact Dufour, the builders of Gib'Sea, for this. The UK agent is Portfolio Marine in Torquay, http://www.portfolio-marine.co.uk. But if you can't go down that route, I've recently had good service from Technautic in making up some custom replacement windows.

Technautic Marine Windows Branchsound Ltd, Unit 9, Springfield Industrial Estate, Springfield Rd, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex CM0 8AA tel 01621 782964.

Assuming you are talking of a perspex window, speak to Philip Muller of Eastleigh, Hants 0238 260296. Tell him John Arrowsmith gave you his number.

I used Salford House windows in Sevenoaks--often advertise in PBO. Very helpful with advice and their suggestion of neoprene tape rather than Sikaflex has seemed to be correct and less messy to use. They can do anything --from just cutting and drilling perspex etc. to refurbishing hatches and some quite complex cabin roofs.

These are also the people to try if you fancy refurbing your windows and hatches yourself as they have all the bits available and plenty of advice freely given. I refurbed all four windows and a Lewmar hatch on my Moody using bits and help from these guys. I also used the special tape for fixing the aluminium frames to the coachroof.
