On our boat, (1980 Westerly Discus) we have Gibb T-tracks with plunger cars for the genny. They have Large Tufnol sheaves which seem to be quite rough and which are now degrading the sheets.

Has anyone experience of replacing either the car or the sheaves on these, as Gibb are no longer? Is there a direct replacement made by anyone? I don't want to have to replace the whole track, etc.!!

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

I have a 1981 Discus and would assume it was also built with Gibb tracks/cars, lots of other Gibb stuff on the boat. My cars are Barton and look much newer than the tracks, the cars are in Bartons "spectro grey" finish and the track is the more "normal" silver anodised finish. The cars look like the 3200 here :

Happy to take any measurements of the track that might help, although there are plenty of measurements on Bartons website.

I have had some success in removing the pin and replacing the sheave on genoa cars. Alternatively you may be able to shackle a block on to the car. However most cars are made to have the sheave as low as possible to the track to aid the lead of the sheet onto the winch from as low as possible to avert over ride. good luck olewill
