The lower part of the hobs look tired from cleaning using the wrong products over the years. Any idea where they can be bought? Or better still be re-coated with the thermo stuff.

Cheers James

Jamesuk,

I have just went through this exercise trying to refurbish a Force 10 4 Burner Hob Cooker (it's marketed as the "American" model).

The cookers made before 2000 have no spares available anymore. I searched many USA sites and UK sites with no luck. The burners that have the black tops are the old style.

Replacement burners can be bought from here: http://www.socal.co.uk/Force-10-Cookers/201 however, the upgrade kit is not easy to fit and requires a lot of effort. Basically they come with a stainless steel circular flange that has to be welded to the hob plate, then new holes drilled and filed to take the igniter and flame failure devices. The burner pots are common to many UK domestic cookers for future note. The old burners pots are not.

Spares are horrendously expensive in the UK, I imported the spares to Bahrain from Force 10 in Canada (where a colleague lives) and then took them home with me. As the goods were less than the VAT threshold I didnt declare, cost £345 for 4 complete burner sets including the importation. Note that there is no retrofit for the oven burner but the new style could be made to fit with didgery pokery.

Dismantling the cooker was a complete pain as everything was seized solid. Worth it in the end as they are great cookers.
