Just doing a bit of regular maintenance and noticed one of my port hand navigation lights was out.

I thought I would look at replacing normal lamps with LED's but after a little searching on the internet have seen that some have experienced problems with LED's interfering with AIS and NAV equipment ??

Has anyone any experience of this ?

I have just replaced my Anchor light with a led light from Bedazzled.
Looks brighter than the old one and a huge difference in power consumption.

Haven't tried it with any electronics yet, but all my interior lights have been replaced with leds as well and no noticeable side effects on other electronics. Might be possible but I would be very surprised.

Might be stating the obvious, but ensure you get the bulb with the matching colour as I think white leds don't play nice with coloured lenses.

I would think that nav lights are usually on with the engines running so power consumption is not a factor. I would just pop in a new lamp and save the cost of the LEDs. Anchor lights are a different matter obviously.

Replaced all my Nav lighs and internal light sources with LED well over a year ago, much brighter, last longer and lower energy consumption. I have Raymarine kit and despite some long 500nm+ trips, never noticed any interference or problems with it or my VHF.
