Anyone know of any particularly good deals on flares? I need a coastal pack - best prices I've found so far by mail order are just over £100 or mid-high £80s for collection (but I'm in East Sussex and not near any of the relevant chandleries).

And whilst it is an interesting topic whether I need flares at all and whether laser flares, epirbs or plbs are better/worse, all I'm asking for is whether anyone knows of any good deals on real pyrotechnic flares. :-)

go to your liferaft service chap, he is bound to have in date flares from service replacements

Seago are at Golden Cross, nr Hailsham down the A22 from us-here's the contact details, and they insist on doing their own liferafts!

I've got 2013's to replace myself, could see what Coastal pack deals/Brands are available to me locally to the boat-Seateach, F4, Harbour Chandlers all near, and report back to you.
I could get what you want and meet up somewhere to hand over-saving a 'hazardous cargo rate' from TNT,etc-nothing doing at the Royal Soveriegn, or Brighton Marina, I take it.

PM me if you like- going down to boat this Saturday

Cheaper flares

Are you in France at all? If so go into one of their chandlers and check out the prices of the flare packs-usually quite a bit cheaper.
You can also buy sealed packs of red flares and individual parachute flares to refill your packs. I have used Comptoir Maritime in St Malo.
