Could anyone advise me how I can find the correct duoprop for my Jeanneau Leader 805 built 2001 and fitted with single KAD43-P-A engine and DP-E 1.78?

We had the boat out of the water on Saturday but could not find any markings on the props.

Tried calling Jeanneau and Volvo dealers but not getting any call back.

Thanks

There *are* markings on the props, but only 1 prop. I can't remember which, or where exactly it is, but it's definately there... Take a closer look

If it's of any use, my KAD32 (170HP, think your's is 230HP) uses A5 prop's on a 2000KG planing boat and I get 30knots at WOT. I *Could* go for A6 to get a little more top-end, but I prefer having the boat slightly under propped as to not stress the engine when there's a few on-board, I just need to remember to never push the throttle the full way down... I have no scientific proof that this is giving the engine less stress, it's just my opinion.

BTW, I saw a few month's ago that some place are now making duo-prop's at a far bit cheaper than genuine Volvo props... do a google, you may save yourself a few quid

There's a prop selection guide HERE .

For example, it's based on what top speed you were getting before: if it was 32-35 kts then a "B6" would be the (aluminum) choice.

A-series props aren't for the bigger diesels.

For a KAD43 It needs to be B-series (alu) or C-series (SS).

dvinell - Why are A's unsuitable? I don't know if KAD32 is considered 'big' .... do you not think I should have A's on my leg?

KAD32's aren't the big diesels. I should know, I have two of them, they're iddly piddly ones /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ....... THIS is a bigger diesel.

If you have a look at the prop selector doc, it makes it clearer.

A-Series is the right alu prop for "for diesel engines up to D41 engines", e.g. AD31, KAD32, AD41. The rear prop is a four blade prop, with a three blade in front.

B-Series are three bladed alu props used on petrol engines and KAD42, KAD43, KAD44, although SS props (C-series) are better on KAD44's and KAD300's.

The markings are on both props. Either cast on the hub between the blades, or stamped at the aft end of the prop hub where the prop nuts / cone snugs up to. You may have to clean the props to see the stamps

Unfortunately, I estimate that after removing both KAD32's and fitting just one of those, my boat would be heading towards the bottom of the Solent at approx 75ft per second, a minor side effect of having a 2300 ton engine beneath the hatch.
