I will have to replace the Brydon Boy sea toilet in my Snapdragon. One of the 3 screws retaining the pump to the base has stripped its threads, and it is leaking. The toilet sits on a raised GRP platform, secured by 4 bolts. It is not immediately apparent how this is done, as there is no access to the underside of the platform. Ideally, I would replace with an identical toilet, to bolt on to the same bolts. Has anyone a recommendation for a replacement, or a suggestion how to bolt it down?
Many thanks in anticipation.

I had the same problem a few years ago. Needless to say, I couldn't find a like for like replacement, so I filled the old holes and held the new one down with big fat self tappers. I fully expected them to show signs of weakness, at which point I'd do it properly, though I wasn't sure what properly was. Five years later, I'm still not sure 'cos the screws are still fine.

I think properly would probably involve cutting an access hole, perhaps 2, in the front of the floor moulding and using SS bolts & penny washers, then a repair to the front, so I'm quite glad the screws are doing their job!

That would be the way to do it. The posh way to "repair" it would be to fit an inspection hatch if there is one the right size.
The simple way would be to simply screw something over the hole. Piece of plastic or a piece of nicely varnished wood.

Can't you just replace the screw with a bolt? and a nut on the bottom?
I've been advised to try and keep my Brydon toilet as long as possible because the quality is supposed to be far superior to modern versions!

Alternative

I think you may find that the RM69 is a direct copy of the Brydon Boy. It should fit all the mountings perfectly (Just make sure it is an RM69 not an RM96!)

Yes, I wondered before if the RM69 is the same, as I know the RM69 service kit fits the Brydon Boy, but I emailed Raske en Van Der Meyde and they said that the mounting bolts are different. Looking at a picture of the RM69, it looks the same!!
