Replace Glass in Portholes

Can anyone help me, I'm trying to get the glass out of the porthole and not sure which way to turn the bezel. It seems very tight, is it a left or right hand thread?? Any other tips would be helpful

Might be worth trying this question on the Classic Forum....could be there's more porthole experience there
