a friend has damaged the fibre optic cable that runs from the conrtol head to the set on his ICOM marine SSB, and ICOM no longer do spares. Does anyone know of a small company that can do economic repairs on fibre optic?

Try ICOM I have found them the most helpful company I have ever dealt with once checking out some batteries of mine on a handheld and replacing them FOC even though out of warantee but ICOM considered they should have lasted longer.
Suggest a phone call 1st to get a rough idea of costs
Its service like that though that results in my only buying ICOM

This control head cable is no longer available.
We have managed to repair these in the past depending on where the cable is damaged.
Might be worth him sending it back for us to have a look at.
