Has anybody ever looked at the cost of work on boats on the other side of the ditch. I am just about to spend £5,500 on osmosis treatment on a newly purchased (but old) boat at a yard in the Solent. I just wondered if it may be cheaper 'a la France'. I think it would have to be a substantial saving to make it worthwhile given the hassle of getting there and back and so on, but given the normal savings on just about everything else one gets abroad....

I paid approx. £2200 to have my previous boat(a 30footer) done at Vilamoura in the Algarve.Since the climate is drier than in the UK it probably took less time than it would have over there. In the end the whole thing took about 7 months from beginning to end but this boat was a particularly difficult case as the hull was a balsa sandwich and quite tricky to dry properly.A conventional solid laminate hull would be much easier,I'm sure.
