Repairing Sails using domestic Sewing Machine.

You're right, 201s are straight stitch only (although there is a ziz zag attachment). However, for small repairs, is zig zag really necessary....?

I use a Japanese domestic machine that was badged by a US co 'New World'. (all written on the plate) and it does it all. Zig-Zag to various widths. I made the sails for my small boat and it will do them for the 21ft new one (slight delay on that build) Managed up to 8 thicknesses of 6 oz with a little help.
I set up a couple of old doors as 'feed' trays to get the rolled up panels through.

Been borrowed by friends, who trashed their wives machines. Bit costly, that.
