I have a rather useful cockpit cover which saves me having to re-varnish all the cockpit woodwork and tiller etc. it is made of the same sort of stuff that curtainside lorries use, i.e. a woven base fabric with a thick layer of what I presume is PVC.

Anyway, it has developed a couple of holes where it has been rubbing on the tops of the winches. I am hoping to repair ot using a dinghy repair kit, but before I go and buy one wanted to check a) can I use my existing hypalon repair kit instead; b) does anybody have a decent sized scrap of old PVC dinghy that they would be willing to send me?

Cheers

Hypalon glue and PVC glue are different.
There are plenty of people selling fabric and glue on ebay, but I can recommend IBS Boat Parts.

Also I have sewn that material OK with an old heavy Jones domestic sewing machine.

If it's the material used for curtain sides it can be welded, Curtain side manufactures throw old one away are there any local to you?

Just to update, I have bought a pack of clear self adhesive patches advertised as being for repairing lorry curtains etc. Not expensive and will be very quick and easy to use, whether they last the winter, who knows. I'd like to have the cover back in use ASAP so it seemed an easy fix.
Hadn't heard of tenacious tape, will look it up.

Oh and just to update my update, those self adhesive patches fell off after a week. I then repaired the cover properly using PVC adhesive from a dinghy kit, and it appears to be working well several months later. Just in case this helps anyone.
