hi, my dad just called me from France and says he's made a small hole in our ferro hull -(almost all the way through - collided with some kind of shackle against a wall) - its well above the water line so it's not dire - but does anyone know how to patch this up?
cement or some kind of resin? it needn't be permanent for now but its gotta get us home this summer.

thanks
joe

Chip away any loose ferro. Epoxy resin is good, use with phenolic bubbles to make a filler. See SP systems the telephone number is 0893 298451. Leave proud and sand down to blend. Most yacht chandlers have the £11.99 packs which should be enough for a small hole.

they are supposed to be easy to repair with 'paching cement' check the net before adding a patch that may have to be removed to fix proper.

A specific product used in the building industry for fixing concrete is Expocrete, but as the previous poster said, Epoxy resin with filler powder is fine.

expocrete is the stuff should keep some on your yacht for any woops below the water line did the same to mine a couple of months ago fixed in a couple of hours then faired with epoxy and ballons can't see the patch now your local hardware store should have/get hold of
