Finally took the plunge and sorted the failed foam core on one of the cockpit seats on our Arpege during this summers warm and dry weather.Bit daunting taking an angle grinder with a thin cutting disc to ones boat but it had the top skin off in a flash.Soggy wet crumbly foam all removed.Inner laminated sanded, one layer of 400gsm mat rolled on top of inner skin then a layer of thickened resin then new closed cell foam core followed by another layer of 400gsm mat, more thickened resin on top and old cleaned up top laminate placed back on and weighted down sand bags.Smooth Treadmaster then epoxied on top to make a neat job.the cost of the Treadmaster was the biggest single expense but should last well.

Well done; Arpege's are renown for this but you are restoring a good boat.

Thanks,we've had her coming up for two years now and the previous owner had fixed the core problems everywhere else as instructed by survey for insurance so not a restoration as such. The cockpit seats had been drilled and injected with epoxy slurry sometime before this but whenever you sat on them you got wet.Obviously water logged hence the repair. This now means between what the PO did and us she is now all good for many more years.I took lots of video which show more of the work but can't seem to put them here as attachments, only pictures work.Might have to get son to upload them to his youtube account

Post the video on YouTube and then here with the insert video icon.I would like to see how you did the repairs.

Will do.Might be a few days until it happens.Son away sailing in deepest Englandshire and not back in bonnie Scotland until Monday.

Okay, think I have managed to make a youtube account but don't have the technical smarts to link it here but if you search youtube.co.uk for Dufour Arpege delamination I have put three vids up.Still need to sand off the excess epoxy that ouzed out from the edges of the Treadmaster and hit the surrounding area with some cutting paste to remove the epoxy finger prints on the surrounding gelcoat. If anyone can link the vids to here then feel free.
