Hi,
Using Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 Plus on Iroko cabin sides.
There are some 'shakes' in the timber, max about 3mm wide.
It's suggested I use "Repair Care Dry Flex 4" 2-part epoxy to fill these, as it has good expansion/contraction and glueing qualities.
But it's pricey, and unfamiliar, stuff...
Any experience, anyone?
Thanks,
Chris

My boat Tiller Girl was built by Seacraft of Leigh-on-Sea and Alan Platt who built the Finesse was later an apprentice at Seacraft. He then went on to built in his own company. Tiller Girl had shakes on the Iroko cabin sides and I was advised by a surveyor (also from Leigh-on-Sea) that the shakes needed a permanent solution. The solution was to gently drill a small hole at the end of the shake no deeper than the shake. Then rout out the shake an even groove/slot. Then glue in an iroko spline using epoxy. Filling the shake is likely to unsuccessful as a permanent solution. TG cabin sides were quite scarred over the years so at the recommendation of the surveyor I glued a (thick) veneer over the whole of the cabin side. The shakes were stablilised and the appearance was great. I can sort out some photos if you want.
