Repacking Lifejackets after servicing

I've been checking out our auto LJs and (Confession) for the first time I inflated them and left them for 24 hours.

Mine - an Ocean Safety with a curved neck shape and secured with a burstable zip and with a bladder that is separate from the cover. What a palaver Getting the iar was difficult and repacking it was b...... awkward. It now feels a bit inflexible.

Hers - a Seago with the square shaped neck secured with Velcro and with no separate bladder - the cover is part of the bladder. Piece of cake - easy to deflate, folds up and secures in seconds.

Some of my old ones could do with replacing. For reasonable money what makes do you find easy to service?

I service one, then use the other as a reference on how to re-fold it.

I think the Velcro type are easier than the zips; but the Velcro on my Seago would never stay secured and was a real pain. Our Crewsaver/Velcro were easy enough, and my Crewsaver/zip was not bad, but I agree it seems to be stiffer than before.

The square neck type tends to chafe at the corners, there seems to be no ideal solution.

Have always found my XM Quickfits take kindly to being opened, unpacked and then re-packed again, repeatedly.

Also search you tube. Can bet that someone has out a video on about repacking your type. Can often give some good points.
