Hi Guys
The 079D Taylors Heater is long gone. But the diesel supply fitting on the tank is leaking. I want to remove it but the tank doesn't have any access for an inside nut and I know that this was retrofitted - but how? The fitting instructions just say to make a 25mm dia hole but don't say how to fit the unit. The screwed boss is 20mm dia. Is the back plate cut away so that it can be slipped in (or out) from the top, or what? Anyone fitted one?

See attached photos: No1. shows shows a complete fitting (on the left). No2 shows it mounted on my tank

I fitted a similar pick-up pipe for an Eberspacher.
Under the rubber seal (unseen in pic left) is an oblong flange welded to the pipe which at its narrowest is just under 25mm. At its widest its nearly the same as the diameter of the steel washer under the hex nut.
Remove the hex nut, steel washer and seal and you will be able to manoever the pipe at an angle so one end of the oblong flange pops out of the hole. Move the pipe to the side and the other end of the oblong will come out.
It's an idea to tie a bit of string onto the end of the pipe and secure it so you don't lose the pipe into the tank.
