Can any one suggest a safe method of removing painted on name from GRP hull, pretty sure it is enamel paint but am wary of using hot air or nitromoors. Total area quite large perhaps half a metre
Thanks
Keith

I did it before with a Stanley knife blade (just the blade) held at a very shallow angle (perhaps 20 degrees) to the hull. The enamel paint came off very easily, and the GRP gel coat was completely undamaged - just a slightly abrasive polish all that was required to make as new. It works because the paint is proud of the hull, so it's essential that you attack only at the edges, gradually reducing the area of the painted patch.

Don't use paint stripper on gelcoat please... It will come off with a rubbing compound - you will need a heavy grade paste and then a finer grade for finishing to bring back the shine.
