Changing the name of a yacht we have removed the sewn and glued letters from the dodgers but are left with the name spelt out in what looks like contact adhesive.

Anyone successfully removed the glue left on the dodger?

No, but you can swap the dodgers from side to side so that the remains of the lettering is on the inside.
I also put fabric pockets over most of the unsightly stuff so it all worked out very well. Well, except that I rarely used them after the first season but that is another matter.

Doubt you will successfully remove the adhesive from acrylic.
Get the new name sewn onto a matching panel of acrylic canvas and then stitch that over the adhesive.

As said almost impossible to remove letters glue or also the permanent shadow of fabric fading around the letters.
New dodgers might be a final answer if you don't reverse them as suggested or cover with cloth. ol'will

Many thanks for the suggestions. The glue remover looks good stuff for some applications but as said there will be a less faded bit underneath.

Plan now is reverse them and sew pockets on the new inside as suggested by Doug.
Cheers.

Removing the glue sounds like hard work and will never look perfect. Making new ones is a straightforward DIY project. The acrylic canvas can be bought from a sailmaker. Sunbrella is a lighter alternative. Hem the edges and stamp in brass eyelets for fixing. In a fit of over-enthusiasm SWMBO also made and sewed on the letters.

Pockets are a good idea with the heavier material. Best if they are a bit baggy and have elasticated tops to hold stuff in, e.g. winch handles.
