I have been noticing that our boat is breaking out in small freckles ( rust spots), which I can only put down to the building site that is near by. How can I remove the rust spots. I don't want to use anything abrasive - as I suspect I will be cleaning up the rust for quite a while til they have finished building. Y10 would be expensive....I would need a good few pots to do all the deck and coach roof. Any suggestions? Regards sam

You can get it at the druggist; it comes as a white powder which you mix in water. Careful ! it is a poison. Just brush some on the rust spots, let sit for 10 minutes and rinse with fresh water.

I concur with Oxlic acid, great stuff. however whaqt is cause the rust spots, if there are tiny metal perticls in the deck then they spots will likly return until the actual cause is removed, this has also been discussed recently, syggest searching the archive for rust

Would Oxalic acid remove the stains from Oak leaves. During the winter my boat was stored under an Oak, The falling leaves stained the deck. Normal deck cleaner has little effect.

i think i wd try some truckwash along the lines of the stuff sold by poster hlb who can be found on the mobochat forum.

if that doesn't work (but i bet it will) then acetone will work.
