removing oil saturating Glassfibre

G'day Nuno,

I agree using a chisel rather than a grinder will make a lot less mess, but when chasing a contamination stain you can loose it very easily because the lead edge gets broken, this method will also more material than that required in most cases.

Chisels work very well when removing glass from "other" materials, like bulk heads and tanks etc.

Avagoodweekend......

Outside you could use just about any of the degreasers on the market, even a pressure pack would do the job.

Thought you said use the degreaser first inside the hull( not out side as above ) , allow to soak through and then flush from inside with meth .

Incidentally what do you mean by a pressure pack?

Luckily Acetone treatment worked and oil is now virually off . Most of actone evaporated off and resin base was so well bonded that the small quantities used did not have a deleterious effect . I supose to completely dissolve it one would have to expose a lot of surface area over a long period of time
I understand however that methyl alcohol is more toxic that acetone and both have the same flash point so I have been told that the risks are more or less the same whatever one uses
