Can any Mac experts explain how to remove the Navionics chart installer app from a Mac? This software was obviously written by somebody with no idea about how Macs are supposed to behave because it cannot be uninstalled by the normal methods. I cannot simply delete the app because it is permanently running, and it does not show up in the Finder list of running processes. Also, having searched around my hard-drive, it appears to have scattered components all over the place - like a Windows program would do.

It is very annoying to have this app running permanently, because every time I connect a camera to my Mac, the Navionics app detects an SD card and launches the chart installer window.

Not a Mac expert but have had one for several years. AFAIK the way to delete a Mac App is to simply drag the App icon to the Trash Can and BYU. I am told that this gets rid of all the other odd compnonents also, unlike the Windows uninstall which often leaves random garbage behind.

Yes I know that! The problem is that the wretched Navionics app cannot be deleted in this way, as I explained...

Yes, thanks, finally managed to rid my Mac of the wretched software. You need to close it down via Activity Monitor, and then it becomes possible to remove it via the normal methods. There are a fair few random files left if removed simply by deleting from the App folder - better to use a dedicated uninstaller app that will find all related files.
