Removing Navionics Chart Cartridge - Raymarine C70????

I'm sure I read a post about this one but can't find it now.

Is there an easy way to remove a chart cartridge from the plotter once it's been installed??? Ours went in Ok but now refuses to budge?? Fine from an anti-theft point of view but crap for uploading waypoints from a flash card? I'm reluctant to take a pair of pliers to it for obvious reasons!!

Someone also told me that once you upload the chart you can take the card out and the data stays there until you change it. Raymarine Tech Support say that when you pull the card the data goes? Resaon I ask is that we have just bought the Navionics Nav Planner to plan at home on PC. I presume you must load the chart on the PC, do your plots etc, save to a flash card, upload the flash card data to the plotter and then insert the chart card?? If so, I just hope they go in/out easier!!

Not familiar with that instrument but sometimes you just have to push it in a little further and then it pops out ................ or on C-Map you have push it in and across a bit and it pops out.

We have a C80 and while it is very stiff, it does come out. I use my two index fingers, one at the top and the other at the bottom and wiggle it up and down.

Sorry for the real technical explanation but that is the best I can do.


Removing the card reverts the system back to the inbuilt world chart which has no detail, so not a good plan.

If the unit is on, make sure that before you remove the card you do through the menu and "Remove the Card" before you physically take it out or you may cause some data corruption on the card.

on my plotter (Raymarine) once you remove the card the chat data stays untill the plotter looks for the card (which will usually be looking for some new bit of information). Once it detects the card is not there you loose the chart detaisl untill it's all reloaded.

my card had a small hole on the rear edge and I was able to thread a thin wire loop through it that I could use to tug it out.

Same as you found it stiff to remove the first time - just plodded on and worked it out bit by bit. Each time I removed it after that it got easier - now its a piece of cake.

I would recomend being equally careful putting it back in so as not to bend the pins
