I am just about to replace my stainless steel exhaust box for a Halyard GRP type. Has anyone experience of removing the exhaust hose of the original stainless steel box? Knowing how difficult it can be replacing 1-1/2” heads hose I fear this will not be an easy task.

Depends on how old the hose is and how easy it is to grab hold of to twist turn and pull . I'v recently tried to do the same . Ended up buying a new piece. Made my eyes water when told the price though . Anyway FWIW bite the bullet and s*d the expense and buy a new piece .

I replaced my rusting exhaust hose with a rubber one. Ummed and ahhed for a while because of the expense, but the rubber helped only a little to reduce noise in the steel hull - everything echoes.
