My boat (moody 34) curently has a baby stay, cap shrouds and aft lowers. This winter I’m scheduled to rerig the mast for insurance compliance.
However I would like to remove the baby stay to accomplish a couple of aims; easier to gybe the pole, easier to stow tender on deck and opens the possibility of moving emergency forestry back aft of anchor locker and rigging a staysail when short tacking.
I’m quite happy with designing the chainstays in CAD and it looks like they’ll be easy to bolt to the main bulkhead so deck level doesn’t present a concern. What requires a bit of thought is both the aft and fwd lowers both being suspended / attached at the one shroud termination hole on the mast.
How is this usually handled? I imagine a stainless plate 5mm or so isosceles triangle - top hole attached to mast hole. Bottom two holes attached to fwd and aft shrouds respectively.
Does this seem reasonable?
Thanks
