The motor on my Simpson-Lawrence AP700 windlass has packed up, so I thought I'd replace it (and probably the gearbox as both have had 15 years' hard use). The manual looks as if the gearbox + motor can be released by undoing the nuts on the four studs that come through from the baseplate on the deck. Nope - absolutely solid - appears to be glued to the deckhead! Has anyone got any ideas, please?
