I would like to replace the thermostat on my 1GM-10 Yanmar. To do this it looks like I need to remove a fuel line and then replace it. I have never done this before so I would like some advice and input on what to expect and look out for. I feel happy replacing the thermostat but its the fuel lines that concern me.

I have done this a few times and cannot remember any big issues to look out for. I seem to recall that there is a small vent hole in the front of the thermostat and this should be at the top to permit correct venting action. Remove the fuel line it only has two unions and once undone you will get clearance to the thermostat. I think you may need to bleed the engine end of your fuel system once done.

No big issues connected with removing a fuel line. Just remember to turn the fuel off first and have something ready to catch the fuel in the line once disconnected. The banjo union washers (copper) should be either replaced or annealed before remaking the connections. After that, bleed the complete fuel line as has been said.
