I need to replace the 'end cap assembly' on my tiller pilot. (A small pin - which holds in place the big pin for engaging in the hull socket - vibrated half way out putting uneven stress of the plastic cap which then broke.) Fortunately a spare is available. The cable runs through a central hole in this end cap and so the 3-pin plug needs to be removed. But how? Tantalisingly it has two small screws but removing them seemed to do nothing except starting a 30 minute search for the one that rolled under the sofa.

The plug and socket are available as spares so presumably there is a way. I have found the repair manual and owners' manual, searched YouTube and done my due diligence on Raymarine support sites - nothing.

A good night's sleep, better light and a more logical brain suggested there must be a plate holding down the pins and secured with the screws even though it looked fully moulded. So it proved to be. [Searches for 'embarrassed emoji']
