Having recently sung the praises of RemovALL paint strippers, I thought I'd balance things up with my experience with a batch of RemovALL 620 which I ordered and received last week to strip the bottom on my wee Hunter.

It's terrible.

The first thick coat managed, just, after 12 hours, to enable me to get half of one layer of antifouling off with some very hard scraping work. The second thick application, left for 18 hours, has had no measurable effect at all on the remaining antifouling or on the paint underneath. Previously I was very impressed with this stuff, and found that it turned paint to jelly which could be scooped off. The current formulation of RemovALL 620, however, appears to be a waste of time and money. Quite a lot of money, in fact, at 40+ quid for 3.8 litres.

If anyone has bought this stuff on my recommendation, I apologise.

Bought 20 litres of the stuff (small fortune) years ago, to strip 40 years worth of antifouling off my Centaur needless to say poured it away after the third go and resorted to sandblasting (which did a much better job,) maybe it works on say one or two seasons build-up but was a total waste of money for me.

Update: I emailed a complaint to Cirrus Systems and got a very friendly phone call from them ten minutes later. They are going to send me another pot to try and I shall try to get my hands on an airless sprayer to lay down a thicker coat than I can with a brush. It seems that the stuff they sold me before for GRP use (RemovALL 220) is now sold for brick and metal only.

Anyone know a good hull blasting company near the Solway?
