HI Folks
Been contemplating painting deck with non slip paint, since reading previous post about non slip paint. Deck has got non slip finish originally, but some previous owner has fitted ( stuck ) non slip rubber mats on the deck which are now becoming tatty. Has anyone tried removing these mats and the glue residue, and can it be done successfully without leaving shadows of the mats on the deck.
Thanks

G'day Norseman,

Removing stick on non slip patches depends on what type they are, The plastic based units come off with a heat gun, and solvent will remove the glue, use a wooden or plastic scraper: some however have been glued with resin and only the patch comes away leaving a mess.

Any shadow left by the mat will be covered with the non slip paint you plan to apply, but don't plan on getting rid of the shadow if it's over a moulded section of non slip, all but impossible to get it all off.

Some of the newer stick on's seem to last a bit longer though.

Hope this helps

We went down the road of non stick paint and am now going to remove it and the smaller patches of treadmaster to replace with a much larger piece. We just found that the white non slip was never clean, despite much attention from SWMBO.
