Here's the problem. The Kipper has a large fully enclosed wheelhouse with three big windows each fore and aft, about 75cm square. In summer it gets hot and it spoils some of the fun of sailing when you're in there, but at anchor it can be damn hot! Fitting huge hatches is a no-no due to the enormous cost. So I thought about replacing a couple of the forward panes of glass (rebated into the ply frames) and one of the aft windows with a removable window. Does such a thing even exist? Or any idea how to fabricate one? Speed of fitting isn't too much of an issue, if it took a couple of minutes each that's OK. I'd love to hear that it might be possible!

That's exactly what iv'e done on my barge, It works very well.

I have a traditional small top window that tips inwards and can be taken out. the main window underneath is about 2 ft by 2 ft and the glass is located in a slot underneath the top frame, and slides out at the bottom to remove the whole windowpane. The technique to fit the windows from inside takes a bit of practice. First remove small top window, then stretch your arm through small window opening to grasp big windowpane on outside, place other hand on inside and push out. Rotate glass to fit through window frame.

Don't drop!!!:p:o

Makes a massive difference to ventilation.....well worth the effort.
I will post some photos tomorrow..........
