When I bought my Sealine S42 it was fitted with a pair of bespoke removable davits. I will not use these and so have taken them off the boat - they are now cluttering up my garage and looking for a new home....

They are made of stainless steel and each davit is in two parts - a fixed section that bolts to the bathing platform (approx 70cm and 75cm long) and the removable section that extends the arms to approx 120cm, although these could be re-drilled to adjust the overall length (longer / shorter). They hold a dinghy far enough outboard that it does not completely block the bathing platform but, being removable, they do not increase the LOA.

They would probably be a bit heavy to post but could be collected from my home (Rutland) or Cobbs Quay, Poole.

I don't need the davits but I didn't want to just bin them, so I thought I would post them up here as someone will probably be able to make use of them.

I expect they were costly for the previous owner to have made up but I have no idea what they might be worth now. I would probably settle for a simple contribution to the RNLI.

Regarding the chocks vs davits thing, I didn't think there was enough room in the title box for something like "Hardwood dinghy chocks mounted on stainless steel, extending, removable arms looking for a new home"... so I was looking for a short alternative. They are clearly something more than just blocks of wood, so "chocks" did not seem appropriate. They are probably more of an alternative to snap davits, being that they keep the transom largely clear of the dinghy, and so, although not strictly accurate, "davits" seemed to better convey what I was trying to describe in a single word. Seems to have done the trick anyway!

Hi A,

I think the perspective somewhat artificially enhances the disparity in sizes, but the Sealine is, nevertheless, quite a big boat... to me at least! I will send you an e-mail to find out how you are getting on too.

Hi All,
I thought that I had found a new home for the davits / chocks but they are now unexpectedly available again. They will be free to a good home but, due to their weight, they are probably collection only....

The crane is an Atlas 1600 carbon-fibre model, fitted with a winch and clutch. It is therefore very light weight and does not unbalance the transom. However, it came with the boat and I have yet to use it, so it will be interesting to see how it performs. I have got a 2.7m RIB that is reasonably light (~45kg), so it should be no trouble at all...

Yes, they were spoken for but they are now available again. They are down in Poole at the moment and so, if you would like them, we would have to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.

If these are still available i'd be interested. I need something to fit our Avon 3.2 on.
