A quick reminder that the lock is closed between 16th Jan and 24th March. NEW lock gates being fitted. They removed the up-stream pair and have taken them away, to the menders??? they said they were fitting new ones - suppose they have to measure em without getting wet then and then make new ones. It looked like they were making good progress but now its deserted just like motorway maintenance with loads of equipment around but no workers in sight.

Shepperton Lock (River Thames) Out, and the rest

It's not only Shepperton, but Old Windsor, Boveney, Boulters, Cookham, Marsh, Cleeve and others too numerous to mention.

All due to the Govt: who has given EA loads o' money to spend NOW.

There are so few boats about at this time of year that the disruption is just an inconvenience. We were out after Christmas as that nice Mrs. McKeever re-opened the river for us. Saw three boats on the move over the three days that we were motoring.

Can't remember, but isn't Shepperton between Wargrave and Marlow, as I think it is stopping me move my boat until then. In winter mode and can't think which one it is!

Re: Shepperton Lock (River Thames) Out, and the rest

Shepperton is betwixt Chertsey (upstream) and Sunbury (downstream)

Do you guys on the Thames get a refund on your license as you can no longer fully use the river?

Most Brillant Idea Ever.

Why not take them all away.No need to spend money on em ever agin?
Blimming thing were always getting in the way last time I was round, just as soon as you get the boat on the plane a bloody great wooden door get in the way.
Daft idea if you ask me.

O look that boat over there is aground, wheres me camera. This will look good on the forum.

Refund? Don't be daft /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But when I did ask, tongue in cheek, the reply was.....would you rather we did it in the Summer? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I made a similar point and got a similar reply. I was forced to add that nobody would notice with the bank holiday queues at Boveney...
