Reminder Scuttlebutt Meet Tonight

Just a last minute reminder that there is a meeting of formites at The Mallett Arms , Newton Tony, just a few miles N of Salisbury tonight.

We have to toast the departure of one of our colleagues into matrimony and I will be bring my computer so that anyone interesting in seeing the official Douane Form (with all the details ) of the €150 fine can.

I will be raising a toast and offering a prayer that the few misguided among us will ultimately see the light. Good toast as everyone can read into it what they like!!

There is good food available and knowing a number of attendees intelligent conversation, even possibly from me, providing I am not slurring my words too badly - then it will be my usual rubbish!!

All welcome.

I strongly suspect he's hiding his wallet, he's a reputation for going to extreme lengths to avoid buying a round. "sorry lads & lasses, have to pass on my round, I mislaid my wallet on Mount Vesuvius, as you do" - yeah right.

I have to defend Jimi, he actually bought me my meal last time so tonight its my pleasure to return the compliment so don't think he is being mean but don't let that stop you tsaking the p 1ss!!
 
Yes my faithful steed got me home.

Spoke to the girl and she said we were lucky to find the space. She suggested a Tuesday in future as they are less busy.

Perhaps a Tuesday in October may be worth a try.

Good to se everyone and both Jimi and I were pleasantly surprised by how many turned up.

The parts that you had personally made were truly a work of art.

Best wishes Colin for the Wedding.

Hopefully I will see a few at Cherbourg.

Happy sailing or in Andy's case (he boat is out of the water getting some TLC in its 40yr service!) hope the weather improves so that you can progress the project.
 
Thanks all for a lovely evening, it was nice to put some faces to the names and spend an evening chatting about all things boaty :) Will definately be up for another meet in October
 
Yes, a really nice evening. Good to see Colin again - his fuel filler cap was truly a thing of beauty, I have never seen Para so captivated by an inanimate object :)

Nice to say hello to May as well - but I hope to talk a little more, next time (my fault for disappearing down the other end of the table).

Would certainly be up for a return engagement.

Me too - a very pleasant evening conversing with Mr and Mrs Flapjack and Mr and Mrs BillyBoy

Food was nice too - I shall take Mr S there for lunch one weekend

I had to scoot off early as Mr S is due back from the Middle East today and I had a stack of jobs to do before his return (bathe in asses milk and and annoint myself with oil's etc etc etc)

Don't make the next meet the 11th to the 21st October as we are in Spain

I think the Porters dread seeing my car turn up. When I delivered MIL & SWMBO to the docks for their first cruise it took 2 journeys in my estate just to carry their luggage.

SWMBO has got better though and for recent cruises has listed all the items she did wear and hence is leaving more at home now!!

Amazingly just back from 1 month sailing holiday on our little boat and SWMBO hardly packed anything - Did a few washes during the month though.

Modesty prevents me from posting a picture of said filler cap.

But just to be clear. Do you mean this one?
