Hello,
Exploring getting an engine and typically they're all from the other side of the country. There are lots of pallet booking sites who are not involved in the process of moving it. Many of these have appalling reviews on Trustpilot.

Can anyone recommend a reliable carrier?
Many thanks
Jonathan

I'd try Shiply - you enter details and people bid. I had a Rayburn moved from Perth to Galloway by someone I found there. He was as mad as a box of frogs, but the price was good.

I did this once. The Carrier I contracted with in Poole was of course just a local man but part of the Palletline set up. He explained that the engine needed to be secured on a pallet and have no fuel or oil in it. He warned me that it would be transhipped between vehicles at least 5 times, but even with insurance the cost was a small fraction of what I expected . No problems at all, but when it arrives at it's destination you may need a fork lift or crane to unload it.

A lot of carriers won't take engines. I tried DSL I think and they referred me to one that did. Can't recall the name unfortunately. You have to drain all lubricants and fluids whoever you use.
