The nuts and bolts on my TV aerial have become seriously rusty and seized, and I want to take it to bits.

I recall in my days in the Merchant Navy that we had lots of tins of a red release oil which worked really well on this type of thing.

I've seen a few advertised, WD40 penetrating oil, 3 in 1 penetrating oil etc., and I'm guessing there might be some generic types as well.

Any suggestions for a good penetrating and releasing oil.

Many Thanks,

Richard

Impatient as I am, I nipped into Halfords to see what they had.

It was a choice between Three in One Release Oil, and WD40 Release Oil.

I chose the 3in1, sprayed it liberally, left overnight, and everything came free.
